Bluegrass Computer Systems was started in the small town of Murray Kentucky over 10 years ago by Matthew and Kayla Barnes. At the start of 2014, Matthew hired Phillip on to fill a space within BCS that was like the last piece to a puzzle. Much like Matthew, Phillip wore many hats outside of the office for operations and implementations. So it was a big deal for Matthew to have the ability to focus on growth and the business. Moving forward, BCS went on to be recognized as one of Ingram Micro SMBs top 500 fastest growing companies in 2015. In 2016, Bluegrass Computer Systems moved to Hendersonville, TN and still operates in Hendersonville and surrounding areas including Nashville. BCS still maintains their client base in Kentucky and still has customers that started their business journey with Bluegrass Computer Systems over 10 years ago.
In February of 2020 Matthew was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a type of very aggressive brain cancer. A heartbreaking diagnosis, but Matthew fought to the fullest until he succomed to the cancer in March of 2021. In June of 2021, Phillip took over the company as owner and still owns and operates it today. Phillip says without the commitment to high standards and loyalty that Matthew instilled into the company, Bluegrass Computer Systems wouldn’t be the company it is today. He says he is blessed that life brought him and Matthew together years ago and that God has a plan for everything.
